I’m an editorial illustrator (I draw pictures for magazines, newspapers and some books) who happened upon some brilliant yellow-orange hygrocybes in the woods one day in the winter of 2003 and became madly obsessed. If mushrooms could obtain restraining orders against stalkers I’d be in trouble. Since they can’t I spend every free moment of the rainy season photographing and drawing them. In the dry months I walk the woods impatiently, finding it nearly impossible to wait for the rain to fall again and bring more fungi.
