Comment on Galerina sp. (7544)

Created: 2008-05-19 09:03:46

By: Douglas Smith (douglas)

Summary: Nifty -

Comment: Not sure if these are Galerina, are they growing in a tight cluster? Or just a close group? (Are the stipes fused or pressed together at the base?)

Another one to keep in mind is Kuehneromyces vernalis, which does grow in the east at least in tight clusters. But I believe they should not be viscid, but I’m not sure of that, I am sure they will be hygrophanous, changing color when drying. But I haven’t seen this, I’ve only seen the few tiny guys of this species that grow out here.

It would be good to see gills, and spore print here, I can’t tell if they have a medium brown spore print on caps, or if that is just a shadow on the light brown caps. But there are a few other tight clustered brown guys to look at also.
