Comment on Nolanea sp. (7281)

Created: 2008-04-11 00:45:48

By: Luke Bayler (Mycoholic)

Summary: Nolanea characters…

Comment: Two things to note with Nolaneas in my experience:
1. color of the gills when they are young, whether they are whitish or brownish
2. the smell, most of the Nolaneas I collect around here have a cucumber-ish smell, some may call this farinaceous

If you have a microscope then spore shape is important too and can make some identification easier because some Nolaneas have distinctive spore shapes.
