Summary: What about underneath?

Spraguei has a white, webby partial veil, large, yellow, irregular, radially arranged pores, and a stipe colored much like the cap.

It is fruiting everywhere in the South Carolina mountains right now. After an initial frenzy of photography and exclaiming over each one, now I just walk on by. “Just another Painted Suillus”, I sniff.

Summary: Might be X. dryophilus

Cap looks a bit like this image of Xerocomus dryophilus which I actually saw the pores of :-).
