Summary: .

I’ve not tried these, as I have never found any.
Hmm, yeah Chroogomphus species turn bright red from an orange colour when you cook them. However, they were too foul to eat enough to have caused any urine discolouration, haha.
I assume your college friend has not eaten too many beets.

Summary: Has anyone eaten this?

I have eaten them— they’re pretty good. nice flavor. Interestingly they turn bright red when you cook them. One slight problem is that the red pigment goes right through you and turns your urine red! I fed them to my college roomate many years ago and he came running out of the bathrooms accusing me of poisoning him!
