Observation: Pluteus admirabilis (8310)

When: 2008-05-04
Collection location: Swans Crossing State Forest, New South Wales, Australia [Click for map]
Who: Ian Dodd Kundabung NSW Australia (kundabungkid)
No herbarium specimen

Notes: This fungi was absolutely beautiful. It was only about 5mm in height and the caps about 3mm across. It was almost translucent and the yellow cap had a tinge od red in it. It was so fragile I was not game to breath on it in case it fell over. I am not sure if the red was reflected light. I took two images about an hour apart and the second image is not as sharp as the first, but the colours are similar. Fill flash was used to get the contrast in the prevailing light. The fungi was growing on a very very dead piece of timber that fell apart when I touched it. The area also was very moist. Eucalypts were the surrounding trees.

Recognized by sight: Similar to some of the other species on the site that have been given this name. Of course this is from Australia. In any case, I’m pretty sure it’s a Pluteus.

Summary: Dark image

I have removed the dark image that was taken in natural light as the image did not portray any additional information that was available in the other image.
