Find:
Observation: Bisporella citrina (Batsch) Korf & S.E. Carp. (4962)

When: 2007-11-16
Collection location: CabinCove, Smoky Mountains, Haywood Co., North Carolina, USA [Click for map]
Who: Jason Hollinger (jason)
Herbarium specimen available

Species Lists:
Mushrooms of CabinCove (40)

Notes: tiny disk fungus scattered in great numbers but not crowded on dead rotting oak log
ST: central, v short, expanding smoothly into disk, whitish to pale yellow, smooth
CAP: 0.3-2.0mm, round, disk-shaped, vivid golden, somewhat concave, uniform, smooth, even, rarely contorting due to pressing against one another

These grow in vast numbers throughout our forest here, througout the year, but I’ve never managed to find a spore or ascus.
