Observation: Pholiota squarrosoides (Peck) Sacc. (4297)

When: 2005-09-05
Collection location: Elgin County, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]
Who: Rex (Rex Bartlett)
Herbarium specimen available

Notes: This time of year, Pholiota squarrosoides are found in my region fruiting on wood. One of the more spectacular mushrooms in my opinion. It seems that at one time several years ago, I read of 2 pholiota that fit this similar description. Common name as well as Scientific name varied, but I can’t find record of that. Common name: Sharp-Scaly Pholiota.
