When: 2007-09-08
Collection location:
Diamond and Crater Lake, Douglas and Klamath Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]
Who:
Douglas Smith (douglas)
No herbarium specimen
Species Lists:
Species of the Oregon Cascades (35)
Notes: Unknown Russula, and was pretty common up there. But mostly the samples found were old and very buggy. The taste is mild, and the spores are yellow, found under mixed pine and fir trees. The cap color is mostly red, but with mostly green in the disc. The stipe shows flushes of pink and red in a number of samples.
I didn’t get a chance to put this under the scope, so that is pretty much all I have to go on here. Which with the number of mild tasting yellow spores species, doesn’t help that much.
