Observation: Xanthomendoza fulva (Hoffm.) Søchting, Kärnefelt & S. Kondr. (12030)

When: 2007-02-14
Collection location: Rancho Nuevo Trailhead, Pine Mountain, Santa Barbara Co., CA, USA [Click for map]
Who: Jason Hollinger (jason)
Herbarium specimen available

Notes: On granite. Couldn’t find any rhizines, and soredia are at tips only — ruling out Xanthomendoza fallax. Neither X. fallax nor X. fulva are frequently found on rock, but here it is.
