Summary: Young
This specimen was very young when picked which, I think, accounts for the light color of the cap. The gill structure is consistent with others that I’ve found, so I don’t think it’s been parasitized.

Summary: Doesn’t look right for Paxillus
My P. involutus is typically much darker in the cap, and this one looks to serrated gills. Could it have been parasitized?

Summary: Peeling gills
I don’t still have it but will most likely find more this season. Didn’t know to try but will do so on the next one. Or try, anyway!

Summary: If you still have this one…
..it’d be great to see a demo of the gills peeling from the cap (like its relatives, the boletes).
