Herbarium specimen available
Species Lists:
Sanctuary Forest - November 2006 (17)
Notes: Found growing in a small troop in the remnants of a brush burn pile. There were two fairly distinct color forms – a dark brown and a lighter brown – with some intergrading. The photo is of the dark brown form.

Elevation 1000’-1100’
Looked at a cap and lamellae section under the microscope. The flesh is dextrinoid as it should be for the genus Mycena. The only other observations I made is that it clearly has 4-spored basidia and the spores are unoranmented, essentially spherical with no evidence of pigment.
The specimen was collected as part of a class I taught for the Sanctuary Forest. Overall it was very poor collecting in the Briceland area this year. I believe the reason was an early cold snap which shutdown most of the mycorhizal species. This list are species that were actually found in the Sanctuary Forest. There is a separate list for specimens that were brought to the class for identification.
